What is Technology Leadership Academy?
TLA is a program that began in 2004 in Joplin Schools. In the beginning, teachers received a refurbished laptop with 25 hours of training from the technology department. After about 30 teachers had been through the beta version of TLA, the district opened it up so that every teacher, in every capacity of Joplin Schools, could have additional training and equipment. In 2006, TLA expanded to provide each teacher with anywhere from 30-50 hours of professional development, a high-end laptop, and a SMART Board projection system in their classroom. What's New for 2012
Beginning for those hired in the 2011-2012 school year, teachers will develop a plan for technology integration to present to their principals and mentors. This plan will outline specific goals teachers have for technology integration in their classroom and support the essential question, "How can 21st-century skills be incorporated in the one computer classroom?" Resources for this plan of technology integration are provided below.
